This is a very interesting single molecule. In the old days there was a debate whether it’s an actual pheromone or not. We also call it A1 in the forums. From the well know single pheromone molecules I’d say this one is decently researched. We’ll first look at what the scientific research says briefly and then have a look at practical things.

Androstadienone Studies Show

Effects On Women

• – In a real-world speed-dating setting, exposure to androstadienone increased women’s ratings of male attractiveness (source: Saxton et al., 2008)
• – Inhaling it biased heterosexual women toward perceiving ambiguous figures as more masculine (this effect did not occur in heterosexual men). (Source:Zhou et al., 2014 )

• – Brain Response: Women show a distinct hypothalamic activation pattern compared to men, confirming a sex-specific neural response (source: Savic et al., 2001)
• – Attractiveness Perception (other studies): MIXED – Some research suggests it can modulate attractiveness judgments, but effects may depend on contextual factors (e.g., a woman’s conception risk).

My Observed Effect + Phero Community

Interestingly for me this molecule is more like a comfort builder + imprinting bundle. So it’s more for making girls feel at ease and mood elevated than some having them feel raw attraction. I have not seen some ‘wow effects’ in the sense of instant attraction by using this molecule.

My thought regarding the research is that the males were rated more attractive due to the setting of the research. Of course feeling at ease and mood elevated will indirectly lead to higher scores. Just like that old evil history teacher would give a pupil a better grade on a good day. That’s my take on it. To sum up:

A1 Depression

There’s a “cost” to using this molecule in perfumes or as a solo molecule. If you use a dose above what the body tolerates you’ll get a sort of depression effect. Like your mood will be messed up, it might not be immediate it can also be next day.

Some people never use A1 due to this very reason, while some try to develop the tolerance for it. Generally the higher your testosterone the more your body can handle it, the lower it is the less A1 you can use.

However combined with different molecules your body may just tolerate it well!

One popular pheromone blend containing a high amount of A1 and a high amount of A-NOL worked for someone who was sensitive to all A1 products.

Other Negative Effects Reported

A few other side effects that were mentioned in the old PT forum are: lethargy and decreased sex drive. But from what I’ve seen it’s not a widespead thing. You can search in the archive for more info. The main issue many people get is “A1 depression”.
